Hobbs And Shaw 4KUHD Review

The Movie: 5/10
Blow it up. Catch it on fire. Hype it up. Drive it fast. Give it attitude.

It is what it is. We know the story. These guys have met before, back in the Fast and Furious universe. This is our starting point. These somewhat lesser characters from the franchise are coming together to make more movies so they can save the world from maniacal bad guys and gals. I’m not a snob about movies. Trust me. I have watched and enjoyed some of the worst horror movies ever made. Here’s the thing, that doesn’t mean I like ALL movies. I am not in love with the Fast and Furious flicks, it’s a hit and miss franchise for me. I DID, however, like this one! It’s cheesy and shallow and if you refer to the first line at the review  you’ll get the whole movie in a nutshell.

This story gets a bit wacky, but hey, what else is new in the Action Adventure genre these days. There are cars dangling from cars, a bionic man, people taking on a lot of fighting abuse and it doesn’t really phase them at all. I get it, it’s fantasy, fiction, escapism. I did enjoy it. I said, “Whoa!” several times during some of the stunts. I laughed, almost, at some of the attempted comedy dialogue. Overall, I appreciate the fun and big wild ride they take us on, and if I’m really honest (shhhh) I’m looking forward to more of Hobbs & Shaw.

Audio & Video: 9/10
The 4K disc included here is easily the best format to experience the film in. The 2160P presentation is so good you will be blown away. First off the movie is SHARP as a razor and black levels and color tones are very very accurate. The Dolby Vision color grading used here is reference quality and if your not impressed ask for your money back.

The Dolby Atmos track is also incredible with lots of explosions and LFE action throughout the run-time. Dialog is central and easy to understand and music penetrates the whole soundstage.

Overall Score 5/10
