The Movie: 7.8/10
Ohhh OH oh…yea I liked this movie. I’ll just get that out there right off the bat. I had no idea what to expect. I knew Liam Neeson was the star, and that meant I thought he might have some “special skills” :), but other than that it was one of those movies that had nothing to prove and no expectations to live up to. That’s just the way I like it.

I will say this, we aren’t talking about a totally original theme or plot here. He’s a man who has a tragic event that he must get some revenge for…and so it goes without saying, he might have some special skills after all.

I don’t want to say much more. Yes, I know this is a review, but I really liked that I didn’t know much about this movie, which added to how much I enjoyed it. I would like to allow you that same experience, if possible.

I will say this, it surprised me. That’s kind of a big deal. I have seen many thousands of movies in my life, so being surprised is rare these days. I appreciate everything in this movie from the cast, to the snow, to the style, to the sense of humor, and sense of doom….I just liked it.

Overall, I say give Neeson a couple more hours of your life. If you need to be reminded that he’s more than a guy who needs revenge for something terrible someone terrible has done to someone he cares about, just watch Love Actually. Well, I mean, he still has tragedy, but no revenge:)

Audio & Video: 8/10
Cold Pursuit comes to 4K and Blu-ray courtesy of an AVC transfer in 2.39:1 aspect ratio. Both versions are exceptional with the Dolby Vision HDR 4K transfer coming first due to the much better shadow detail. A lot of Cold Pursuit does take place in the dark so this helps a lot.

The Dolby Atmos track is not really what you would expect from a Liam Neeson action flick as its quite subdued and never really gets very loud. Some of the outdoor blizzard scenes are very good with wind and snow swooshing around you in real time. Sonic-ally and visually Cold Pursuit is a treat.

Overall Score 7.8/10
